Your Existence Is Not An Accident
From the very beginning, Scripture reveals a deeply personal and intentional act of creation by God. In Genesis 1:26-27, we see the divine conversation: “Let us make human beings in our image,” affirming that our origin is not by accident but by divine design. The Old Testament continues to echo this truth—Psalm 139:13-14 celebrates God's intricate workmanship in forming each person, and Jeremiah 1:5 speaks of a God who not only creates but calls and appoints even before birth.
This thread of divine intention is seamlessly woven into the New Testament. Ephesians 1:4-5 declares that God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, and Romans 8:29 affirms that He predestined us to be conformed to the image of His Son. These verses do not merely speak to a moment of creation, but to an eternal purpose—that we would live as His children, bearing His likeness, fulfilling His mission.
Old and New Testament together paint a portrait of a God who creates not out of necessity, but out of love, purpose, and glory. You are not forgotten or random. You are known, formed, chosen, and loved by the One who made the heavens and the earth.
Organized by Old Testament and New Testament:
Genesis 1:26-27 NLT
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness... So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
Pray:
Heavenly Father,
I praise you and thank you for making me in your image, because of scripture.
Will you kindly help my unbelief? That I am not made in your image? The areas of my heart that may be hardened, please soften it so I can fully receive you. In the mighty name of Jesus, I praise and give thanks.
Amen

Psalm 8:4-5 NLT
What are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor.
Pray:
Heavenly Father,
You are sovereign and Lord of all. Why is it that You care for me, when I have barely cared for You? What glory it is to know this truth: that You have made me a little lower than Yourself, yet You have crowned me with glory and honor.
Though my life may not feel glorious or honorable, You have still called me to be Your own. Help me to better understand where I need to let go, so that You can fill me with Your glory.
In Jesus’ mighty name, I praise You and give thanks.
Amen.

Jeremiah 1:5 NLT
“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”
Pray:
Holy and Eternal God,
You knew me before I ever breathed, and in Your wisdom, You set me apart for Your purpose.
You are the One who forms, calls, and appoints according to Your divine plan.
I ask that You help me walk boldly in the calling You have placed upon my life.
Strengthen my heart to trust Your timing and to speak when You command.
Thank You for choosing me, shaping me, and calling me to something far greater than myself.
Amen.

1 Peter 2:9 NLT
But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession.
Pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for choosing to create me and making me Your very own possession. I have many cracks—both inside and out—and You know all my ways. Please come into these broken areas and mend me with Your holy, supernatural glue. Help my unbelief.
In Jesus’ mighty name, I praise You and give thanks.
Amen.

James 1:18 NLT
He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.
Pray:
Heavenly Father, O Lord Most High,
What a wonder it is that You have chosen and formed me. Help me to receive this truth in its fullness. Where there is unbelief, bring faith; where my heart is hardened, make it tender. Fill every empty space within me with Your presence and glory.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.

Romans 8:29 NLT
For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
Pray:
Almighty God,
You who know all things and ordain all our days,
You chose us before time began to be shaped into the likeness of Your Son.
Conform my heart and life to reflect His love, His holiness, and His obedience.
Where I am weak, strengthen me; where I resist, refine me by Your Spirit.
Thank You for calling me into Your family—among many brothers and sisters in Christ.
To You be glory and honor forever.
Amen.
